Present time, Vicky is married to Pete Trujillo, a gangbanger who has two strikes against him. However, she still wants to see how Vicky turned out. Years later, Elena has moved in with another woman, and is now living with her.

Then, at that time, Elena went to the convent as a speaker so she could see what Vicky was turning out to be. During this conversation, Henry learns that she put her child up for adoption, and then years later, went looking for Vicky, only to find her in a convent. Lots of secrets come out, especially the fact, that Elena had a child, a little girl - Vicky, when she was real young. Now, however, Henry feels a need to reconnect, and so does Elena. It seems both are holding resentments from childhood which has driven them apart. While being attended to, he calls out for his sister, Elena, with whom he has a somewhat tenuous relationship. As he is speaking, Rios suffers a heart attack. The book opens with Rios in Appeals Court getting ready to deliver his brief. And finally, there is justice in the end, albeit, a somewhat unhappy ending. The mystery examines family relationships based on bias and prejudice. This is the seventh and final one in this series. Rag and Bone is my first Henry Rios book.
